Valve y GPL

Esta es una noticia que esta surgiendo lentamente en la Red. Al parecer cuando descargas juegos desde Steam, en especial juegos antiguos, vienen con una copia del DOSBox para que se ejecuten. El chiste esta en que la versión de DOSBox viene sin la ayuda y sin ningún archivo de configuración, y menos con la Licencia GPL que tiene, lo cual, claramente sería una violación a la licencia. En los foros de Half Life 2, un usuario comienza un tema como:

Hello, I just bought Wolfenstein 3D from Steam, and it came to my attention they're using DOSBox to play the game, now here's the deal, they've removed all help and config files, and any credit given to the DOSBox Team, they've also removed the GPL(General Public License), thus as fas as I know violating actual law.

Además, como comentan, los desarrolladores de DOSBox no fueron notificados que el programa se estaba usando de esa manera, lo cual conlleva mas problemas. En un foros de DOSBox en Vogons comentan...

Since today, Steam are selling the entire catalog of id Software games (Doom, Heretic, Hexen, Commander Keen, Quake, etc.). I was very curious how they would run all those Dos games so I decided to buy the entire pack (not a bad deal at $63 - comes with Doom 3 + exp too after all).

But when i started Doom, imagine my surprise to see the familiar Dosbox window pop up. I haven't heard or seen any reference on the forum about id software or Valve asking anything to do this so I can only assume they did it without telling the Dosbox team. There's no credits given to the Dosbox team anywhere either. I know Qbix & Harekiet probably won't mind but I still find it a bit impolite to do. Not to mention that their Dosbox is badly set up.
